コロナウィルス関連の英語表現
例文－①
In Tokyo, 36 more people were confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus on Saturday.
訳：東京都では、土曜日に新たに36人の感染者が確認された。
"confirm" は「確認する、確かめる」という意味でよく使われます。
例文－②
Tokyo and Osaka are among 13 prefectures are still designated "special alert" regions.
訳：東京や大阪など、13の都道府県は依然として特別警戒地域に指定されている。
「指定する、明示する」は ”designate" を使います。
「特別警戒地域」は ”special alert region(s)” と訳されています。
例文－③
Residents are being urged to refrain from non-essential outings.
訳：住民たちは、不要不急の外出を控えることを求められている。
"urge to ～" は「～をするように促す、～するように迫る」という意味の熟語です。
"refrain from ～" は「～することを控える、我慢する」というで使われます。
「不要不急の外出」は "non-essential outing(s)" と表現されます。
例文－④
People are careful to keep their distance from one another.
訳：人々はお互いに（十分な）距離を保つように気をつけている。
"one another" は、「2人、もしくは3人以上におけるお互い」を意味します。
例文－⑤
It’s getting hard to stay at home all day.
訳：1日中家にいるのがしんどくなってきた。
「一日中」は "all day" と言います。
例文－⑥
Economic Revitalization Minister Nishimura Yasutoshi says more people are going out following the end of the Golden week spring holiday period.
訳：経済再生担当大臣である西村康稔氏は、ゴールデンウィークにつづき、より多くの人々が外出するようになると発言している。
"revitalization" は、"revitalize"＝「生き返らせる、再活性化させる」という動詞の名詞形です。
例文－⑦
If people become complacent, the number of coronavirus cases will start rising around the end of the month.
訳：人々がコロナウイルスへの感染に注意を払わなくなった場合、今月末頃には再び感染が拡大するると考えられる。
"complacent" は「自己満足した、無頓着な」という意味の形容詞です。
例文－⑧
The automaker has been suffering from a slump in sales in the US and other markets since last year.
訳：自動車製造業者は昨年からアメリカなどの市場における売り上げの不調に悩んでいる。
"suffer from ～" は、「～に苦しむ、～に悩む」という意味です。
"slump in sales" や "sales slump" は「売り上げ不振」という意味で使われます。
例文－⑨
It has started with recurrently halted production lines overseas and in Japan owing to the worldwide spread of the virus.
訳：売り上げの不調は、世界的なウイルスの拡大により、生産ラインが繰り返し止められたことによると考えられる。
"halt" は「中止する、休止する」という意味の動詞です。
"production line(s)" は工場などの「生産ライン」を意味します。
"recurrently" は「繰り返される、再発する」という意味の"recurrent" の副詞形です。
例文－⑩
The number of sales on its website is five times higher than it was during the same month last year.
訳：ウェブ上での売り上げは前年同月比で5倍くらい高い。
